Oldest: 25 days agoThe RACHEL device "Bridget" shows an interesting usage pattern spanning nearly a year from April 2023 to March 2024, with sporadic but intensive activity across just 14 active days that generated 5.4 GB of bandwidth from 170 unique users. The device appears to follow an irregular schedule rather than typical school patterns, with notable activity bursts in August 2023 (including the busiest single day on August 3rd with over 2GB of usage) and a resurgence in early 2024 with 4 active days in February alone. The 6:00 AM start time for most sessions suggests early morning learning activities, possibly indicating use in a community center or informal education setting where people access content before daily work begins. The heavy focus on phonics modules for both children and adults, along with storybooks and ebooks, points to a literacy-focused program serving mixed-age learners, while the sporadic monthly activity pattern suggests seasonal or event-driven educational programs rather than continuous classroom use.

Subject: Proposed Partnership Between RENU and RACHEL by World Possible
Dear Team, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to propose a potential partnership between the Research and Education Network for Uganda (RENU) and RACHEL by World Possible, centered on expanding access to quality educational content for learning and research institutions across Uganda. RENU plays a critical role in providing high-capacity, reliable connectivity to universities, colleges, research institutions, and schools. RACHEL by World Possible complements this mission by offering offline access to rich educational resources such as digital libraries, health references, teacher training materials, and open educational content. Together, these two solutions present a powerful opportunity to enhance digital inclusion and learning continuity. Through this partnership, RENU and RACHEL could collaborate in the following ways: Blended Online and Offline Learning Access RENU connectivity combined with RACHEL’s offline content would ensure uninterrupted access to educational resources, particularly in environments with limited or unstable internet connectivity. Local Hosting and Content Distribution RENU could support the hosting, mirroring, or caching of educational and research content within its national network, while RACHEL devices deliver this content efficiently at institutional and community levels. Support for Rural and Underserved Institutions Joint deployment of RACHEL devices within RENU-connected institutions and last-mile locations would extend access to learning materials in rural schools, teacher training colleges, and health facilities. Capacity Building and Training The partnership could support training for ICT staff, librarians, and educators on managing offline digital libraries, content updates, and sustainable digital learning models. Research, Innovation, and Emergency Education Support RENU and RACHEL could jointly support research initiatives, emergency learning programs, refugee education, and health training programs where connectivity constraints exist. This collaboration aligns strongly with national and regional goals around digital transformation, open educational resources, and equitable access to education and research infrastructure. We believe that a partnership between RENU and World Possible would significantly strengthen the impact of both organizations by combining robust connectivity with accessible, offline-first educational content. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this proposal further and explore possible pilot implementations. Thank you for your time and consideration. Kind regards,
